Maybe if they would add a feature to your Profile like it is with /party invite that you can disable it. So if you want to /spectate a player and he has spectating disabled he would get a msg that he cant spectate him. Or the could just add the message the always send when something went wrong...

+1 the gui (book) takes so long to select a good nick If the command gets added please set some aliases for ranks…(p-player, i-iron, g-gold, …) Or maybe do it that you can like save a nick and you just have to type in /nick (without any argument) you get nicked as your saved nick automatically.
