What is the best bed defense in early game bedwars (without using obsidian).

probably just a wool defense, or the wood wool defense, you can also use an endstone wool defense if the map is fast iron or if you have alot of iron

For me, the wood defense will always be the best at the beginning of the game.

I would say endstone and wood then wool for squads, in solo I just pul wool tbh and duos wool as well

In solos or duos i recommend to use only wool. You don't have to get much effort on the defence on duos or solos.
In quads i recommend to use the mining fatigue trap aka show me your hands trap and wool, wood, endstone.

In solos i just put wool or nothing and rush in duos i put wood and wool for quads i do the butterfly one with endstone and wood

Obsidian is the best defense ever in bedwars. Its very helpful and you have no tension for your bed because you bed is protected
