I was on my own island hopping around and then died to fall damage, but instead of just taking me back to spawn like I normally would it just killed me and wiped my inventory, my inv was just deleted and I spent 20 hours on that set absolute garbage.

You, have to check if your fly command is enabled or disabled and before leaving the game go on safe spawn.

Yes, you can only die on your island except (warzone,fps and boss world).And make sure to disable your fly command when leaving the server.And the items that are lost would have been fallen in the void or server cleaned it as an entity
